Hannah Loved the Animals in Nicaragua. Pelican Eyes
Resort in San Juan del Sur serves as a rehabilitation center and permanent home for orphaned and
needy animals of all types. The mantis was obviously wild. He
appeared on the porch of our cabin, swaying in time to the music coming from my boom box. Knowing that all mantis species are harmless and friendly, I
pointed it out to Hannah. It was love at first sight between the two.
Speaking of Pelican Eyes, if you go, try the Lobster Bisque and the Ceviche,
both are really great. These pictures do not show the outstanding beauty
of "Pelicano".
The Monkeys, or "Monos" in Spanish were the highlight of Hannah's trip. They undoubtedly have sad backstories, but for a fleeting moment, Hannah mothered and loved and played with these mischievous little guys. Pelican eyes has a veterinary staff and clinic, one of the facets of positive change that the resort strives to accomplish with the tourist dollars they bring in. Of course she wanted to bring one home, in particular one friendly one year old female monkey named Banzai. Hannah will never forget these Monkeys, and I think they will think of her fondly as well. I only wish we had spent more of our time at Pelicano with them. Both the monkeys and Hannah were undeniably sad to have to part ways.
