Cased Mouth Blown Plungeware
Seattle Art Glass Vase

Emerald Green and Saffron Yellow exterior with vibrant white interior.
Produced by a professional Seattle glass artist.

This piece is blown in stages with multiple overlays.  It features a bold white interior, the plungeware design layer in emerald green and saffron yellow, and a crystal clear lens layer.

Plungeware pieces are subjected to the repeated process of plunging the hot glass into cold water to force the contraction and violent cracking of the outermost  layer of glass, and returning the piece to the glory hole, resulting in a great textured surface which nicely reveals the saffron yellow glass beneath the outer Emerald Green frit design layer.

Piece measures 8.75" tall by 6" wide.  It weighs 2.7 pounds.

This piece was produced by a professional glass artist living in the Seattle area.   Signed works by this artist are shown in Seattle area galleries and are sold for many hundreds of dollars.  He is very selective in choosing which pieces to sign.  An inconsistency in pattern, a bubble, a form that is not what he sought, imperfect color play, or any small feature of production that belies anything less than the perfection sought, and the piece goes unsigned.

Condition Report for this piece:

This vase has no condition problems. I believe the reason this one went unsigned was because there is white showing though the yellow in one of the molten cracks.
